Okay guys, this is my first blog post in English, only because I had problems with this and found no solution on the web, so I decided to share this to all of yu.<\/p>\n

As you know, Fedora Linux<\/a> is a lil’ bit tricky when it goes to ATI graphics drivers, so you can use this easy steps to go trough ATI’s official non-free proprietor drivers on Fedora Linux 14 (i686).<\/p>\n

ATI driver installation<\/h2>\n

Step 1: Open Konsole: Alt+F2 and type: “konsole” [enter]<\/strong><\/p>\n

Step 2: Login as “root”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n$ su
\n[\/bash]<\/p>\n

and enter your root passwd.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Update the system<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\nyum update
\n[\/bash]
\n…or update just kernel
\n[bash]
\nyum update kernel
\n[\/bash]
\nStep 4: Install required tools<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\nyum install kernel-devel gcc wget
\n[\/bash]
\nStep 5: Reboot (and login to a new kernel, if any)<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\nreboot
\n[\/bash]
\nOpen Konsole again, and login as root (step 1 && step 2)
\nStep 6: Download ATI Catalyst driver (download this version because you’ll have problems with newest)<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\nwget http:\/\/www2.ati.com\/drivers\/linux\/ati-driver-installer-10-11-x86.x86_64.run
\n[\/bash]
\nStep 7: Start the installation<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\nbash .\/ati-driver-installer-10-11-x86.x86_64.run
\n[\/bash]
\n…and go with standard next-next-finish yada-yada… everything by default
\nStep 8: Navigate to proper module build directory<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\ncd \/lib\/modules\/fglrx\/build_mod
\n[\/bash]
\nStep 9: Compile the driver’s module<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\nsh make.sh
\n[\/bash]
\nStep 10: Navigate to the proper module directory<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\ncd \/lib\/modules\/fglrx
\n[\/bash]
\nStep 11: Install the compiled driver’s module<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\nsh make_install.sh
\n[\/bash]
\nStep 12: Add nomodeset as kernel option to grub.conf<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\nsed -i ‘\/root=\/s|$| nomodeset|’ \/boot\/grub\/grub.conf
\n[\/bash]
\nStep 13: Reboot to a new driver<\/strong>
\n[bash]
\nreboot
\n[\/bash]<\/p>\n

If you get your GUI working, you should find “ATI Catalyst Control Center” in:
\n Main menu > Applications > Settings > ATI Catalyst Control Center<\/span><\/p>\n

EDIT: For Compiz Fusion install this:<\/strong>
